NYAPT is proud to announce our 2016-2017 series of on-line workshops for transportation office personnel including directors, dispatchers, support staff, supervisors, and driver trainers.
As a member of NYAPT, you may elect to participate by yourself or with your entire team for one low price of $150.00 for the year!
These sessions are live and interactive, but will also be recorded.
Recorded versions of the webinars will be made available shortly after each session. So if your day forces you to miss the session, you can listen in at your own convenience.
NOTE that some of the sessions will be single-presenter webinars while several will be small panel webinars with school transportation professionals serving as panelists!

How to Create a Highly Effective Presentation Using Powerpoint
We have all experienced death by Powerpoint. This session will show you how to avoid it. While we will look at some of the technical features of Powerpoint as an application, most of the time will be spend on good presentation design. Knowing your audience and how best to reach them using this medium.
Selling Your Transportation Budget
This panel will discuss effective ways to present your budget. Panelist will share ideas, concepts, templates, and samples. How to be ready for common challenges also will be discussed.
Ten Ways to Use Excel
As a follow-up to this year’s tips and tricks session on excel and word, this session will look at specific and practical applications of Excel to a transportation department setting. You may be aware of some, like budgeting, but others will surprise you. Come prepared to be amazed…
Social Media in Transportation Setting
This session will explore the trend on the part of districts to use social media to more effectively interact with employees, parents, students and the community. Communications expert Evelyn McCormack will provide you with an understanding of these tools, do’s and don’t and practical ways to get started.
Working in a Small Rural District
This panel will consist of pupil transportation professionals from around the state who work in or have worked in smaller rural school districts. We will explore the challenges of limited resources, difficulty in getting substitute drivers, community relations and collaboration with neighboring districts. Whether you work in this type of districts or one that is very different, you will gain insights that will help to be more effective.
Positioning Yourself for Leadership
This will be a panel and look at how to make develop the critical strategic relationships that are going to enable you to be most successful in promoting a positive image of yourself as director and the whole transportation department. We will also look at how staff in the transportation department can enhance the positive perception of their positions.
GOOGLE Apps in Transportation
This session will provide both an introduction and tips and tricks for getting started with google applications. We will look at Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, Gmail, and Google Calendar with the focus on comparing capabilities and features, commonly used in a transportation department, with Microsoft Office. Tips and tricks covered in the session will be useful whether you are new to Google applications or a seasoned pro.
