    The New York Association for Pupil Transportation will be offering a full day of training specifically focused on new school transportation directors and supervisors or those aspiring to the position.  This full day session will provide attendees with information critical to the success of a new transportation professional.  Included is state and federal regulatory agency information, as well as strategies to improve your leadership skills.  This programming is general in nature and also specifically tailored to New York school district transportation leaders. 

    The fee structure is as follows:

    NYAPT Members:  $125.00

    NYAPT Non-Members: $150.00

    Leadership Development and Certification program participants may attend this workshop at no cost.  Through the generous sponsorship of Leonard Bus Sales, Inc. the cost of the program will be covered. 

    NOTE:  There are minimal rooms at the Saratoga Hilton room block for Friday, July 5th so reserve your room.  Hotel rooms in Saratoga Springs are limited on July 5th and 6th as well, due to a concert in town.

    PAYMENT SCHEDULE:

    Booth: Reserved exhibit space will be considered “PENDING” until paid in full. Any advance reservation unpaid 60 days prior to the Trade Show will be released. Any exhibit space reserved after 5/8/2024 must be paid in full to hold reservation.

    Conference Sponsorships: A deposit of 50% and signed contract is due within ten days of reserving sponsorship to secure sponsorship. Balance due no later than 90 days prior to the event.


    CANCELLATION:

    Exhibitors who cancel in writing on or before JUNE 7, 2024, will receive a refund of their exhibit space payment, minus a 25% handling fee. Exhibitors who cancel after June 7, 2024, will receive no refund, regardless of cause. Future sponsorships or exhibit opportunities will not be available to vendors with outstanding cancellation fees. Cancellations must be received in writing to the

    TERMS Conference Guest registrations are intended to allow spouses, partners and/or children (not employed in Pupil Transportation) of Conference Attendees to participate fully in educational activities, meals and social events during the conference starting with Lunch on Monday, July 8 and ending with Breakfast on Wednesday, July 10.  This is not intended as an alternate method for registering employees of the Transportation department or office.  Registering an employee of the Transportation department or the contractor operation as a guest will result in the Conference Attendee being charged the full conference registration fee for that individual.

    Drug and Alcohol Reasonable Suspicion Training

    When:  July 10, 2024

    The New York Association for Pupil Transportation offers Drug and Alcohol Reasonable Suspicion training as required by FMCSA in accordance with Section 382.603 of federal regulation. The purpose of this training is to enable supervisors to determine whether reasonable suspicion exists to require a driver to undergo testing described in §382.307. Training will include at least 60 minutes of training on alcohol misuse and 60 minutes on controlled substances use (120 minutes total).  This training will assist you in making reasonable suspicion determinations for drug or alcohol use by DOT drivers along with recognizing signs of suspicious behavior.  A certificate of completion will be issued at the conclusion of training for proof of attendance for FMCSA compliance.  Presented by Needham Risk Management Resource Group, LLC.

    SED School Bus Driver Instructor Course  (SBDI)

    This course is offered for transportation professionals who wish to enhance their career by becoming a New York State Education Department (NYSED) certified School Bus Driver Instructor (SBDI).  This course is instructed by NYSED Master Instructors. Successful completion of this course allows the candidate to become an SBDI, upon approval by SED.

    Prerequisites for the Course are as follows:

    ·        Candidates must be employed by a school district, BOCES, non-public school or private contractor providing services to a public school, non-public school or BOCES

    ·        Candidates must have a High School diploma or equivalent

    ·        Candidates must have completed the Basic Course of Instruction for school bus drivers

    ·        Candidates must have completed the Advanced Course of instruction for school bus drivers OR a DMV approved point/insurance reduction program

      Dates:  July 12, 13, 14,19, 20, 2024

      Class Times:  8:00 - 4:00

      Master Instructors:  Nicole Dolce & Lori-Ann Savino

      Lori-Ann Savino - Transportation Director for the Jericho UFSD
      Lori-Ann Savino started in the pupil transportation industry in 1992 as a bus driver. She obtained her 19-A certification in 2005, her SBDI certification in 2006 and her MI certification in 2016. She has held every civil service title in the school bus transportation industry. Lori-Ann has conducted workshops at local and state conferences. She served as NYAPT’s President from 2016-2018. She was recognized in School Bus Fleet Magazine as one of the U.S. Top Ten Phenomenal Women in School Transportation, November 2017.

      Nicole Dolce - Supervisor of Transportation for the Herrick School District.
      Nicole Dolce started in the Pupil Transportation industry in 2007 as a school bus attendant.  Nicole became an SDBI in 2010 and a 19A examiner in 2011.  Nicole is from the Master Instructor class of 2018 and worked on the Driver's Basic Course rewrite.  Nicole has previously participated in and placed in National and NYS Special Needs Road-eos.  Nicole currently serves as a member of the SBDI/MI Advisory Committee.

      NOTE:  This course and attainment of SBDI credentials counts towards the NYAPT Certification Program.
