NYAPT Winter Workshop

February 20 - 21, 2020 at the Albany Marriott

Supervisors, Directors, Technicians, Trainers & Dispatchers

A NYAPT tradition, bringing key school transportation information and knowledge to supervisors and managers of school bus operations. This mid-year program is a great education opportunity!  It often serves a refresher for managers on key transportation program elements and it's highly instructive for various levels of administrative staff in your department.

The Workshop includes timely and new information on topics such as driver licensing and special education.  All workshops are held in General Session and leaders from our vendor community will be on hand exhibiting throughout the event.

Leadership Development and Certification Program Courses:  $75.00 for members/$100 for non-members/Free for Leadership Development Participants

9:00 AM - noon:  Effective Communications for the School Transportation Manager – Jeff Olefson – Staff Development Associates

Transportation is much more than moving people around in yellow painted vehicles, it is at its core a “people business.”  Communicating effectively comes easy to some people, they have a natural flair for communicating both to individuals and groups. Attend this workshop session to learn effective communications skills or to enhance those skills, so you can be as effective as possible in your everyday leadership responsibilities.

1:00 - 4:00 PM:   Maximizing School Transportation Aid – From an Operations Perspective – Jay O’Connor – Questar BOCES

An important part of the job of the school transportation leader is to maximize state transportation aid.  This workshop session will review how to maximize state transportation aid from an operations level.  Attendees will learn what is aidable and what is not, where to go for information on state aid and how to maximize the non-allowable pupil decimal to assure your district is getting all the state transportation aid that your district is entitled to.
